Southwestern State College is located at Basundhara, Kathmandu. It has been providing undergraduate and graduate level programs for science, management and humanities for undergraduate and graduate levels. At present College is running Master of arts (M.A.), Master of Business Studies (MBS), BBS and new intakes of BCA and BBM programs affiliated to Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur Nepal.
The main features of South Western State College are it has more than 50 professional instructors, research led teaching and learning methods, well equipped computer labs, BCA kit lab, Hotel Management lab, regular subject wise presentation classes, e-library, auditorium hall with 450 seats occupancy, cafeteria and strong security systems. Teaching is based upon lectures, class presentations, group discussions, field visits, project works, workshops and seminars.
BCA is a four year eight semesters program offered by College in affiliation to Tribhuvan University. The subjects includes system analysis and design, network programming, distributed system, computer networking. Only,Plus 2 cleared students with D+ grade in each subjects and CGPA 2.0 or second division marks in plus 2, PCL or equivalent in any discipline can apply.
Some of the major job positions where BCA graduates can fill are in IT Companies, financial markets, Banks, Colleges in various positions mainly as computer system analyst, software programmer, information system manager, database administrator, graphic designer, web designer, network and computer systems, administrators.
